About NYOS NYOS Charter School—Not Your Ordinary School—is a free public charter school founded in 1998 by a group of parents who wanted more out of education for their children. Through a commitment to our students, staff, and academic excellence, we have grown to serve over 1,600 students in PreK through 12th grade.
At NYOS, we educate the whole student. We foster a collegial Pre-K – 12 program that challenges each learner with rigorous academics, innovative strategies, and expectations for civic engagement.
