Primary Role:
Lead Kitchen Operations in preparation of meals for daily menu items as assigned. Employee must perform and demonstrate understanding of materials taught during training. Individual in this role will provide good customer service and contribute to the overall mission of NYOS Charter School. Daily Schedule 5:30am to 2:00pm
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience working with children and adults.
- Lead Kitchen Operations with defined knowledge of TDA compliance for K-12 school operations. (2 to 3 years’ school districts experience)
- Excellent communication skills: bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Obtain the Texas Food Handler certification prior to start date.
- Texas Food Safety Manager License
- Experience working with Point of Sale (POS) systems, ExpressPoint experience preferred.
- FAST PASS fingerprint background check clearance
Professional Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ability to reproduce compliant Recipes stored in Primero Edge Software and maintain daily breakfast and lunch Food Production Reports.
- Manage all Temperature Log sheets for Refrigeration and Heater/ Warmers
- Oversee all kitchen operations and assist with Manager in reporting any fault equipment in accordance with City and State Food and Health requirements.
- Work with vendors in procurement processes and assist in managing all receipts following compliant to Texas 20, TDA, and Region 13.
- Prepare and serve high quality food in compliance with the USDA Child Nutrition Regulations.
- Work with Food Service Manager on Ordering and inventory of all supplies and food.
- Replenish and serves meals efficiently and quickly.
- Follow all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations to include properly restocking, clean, and rotate stock in all food and non-food storage areas.
- Ensure accurate counting and claiming within the District POS system to maintain compliance with menus in ordinance with Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).
- Participate in all clean up duties, including washing dishes, sweeping, mopping the kitchen and related storage areas.
- Follow all safety procedures to promote a safe and efficient kitchen for every employee.
- Safely operate, clean, and sanitize all large and small equipment, including dish machine and dish room area.
- Be courteous in all dealings with parents, students, and employees.
- It is imperative that the person employed in this position display, always, acceptable professional and ethical standards. These expectations include confidentiality, courtesy, cooperation, positive attitude, reliability, punctuality, accuracy, efficiency, timeliness in respect to deadlines, and respectfulness toward others. The employee shall represent NYOS Charter School in a positive way, both on duty and in connection with school activities, even though the employee may not be officially on duty.
- Be familiar with and follow all FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) laws and requirements.
- Perform all other duties as may be assigned.
- The employee will be held accountable for all duties of the job.

Essential functions may include but are not limited to the following: Regular and Reliable Attendance. Sitting for long periods, dexterity of fingers, lifting objects up to 20 lbs. in weight, and being able to communicate information clearly as well as the ability to see objects at a close range and at a distance.
