Primary Role:
This position supports Grades 8-12
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED, required
- Three creditable years of experience as an Educational Aide or 30 hours of college credit, preferred
- Must have or be willing to obtain an Educational Aide III Texas Certification
- Experience working in a classroom and/or working with children
- Ability to provide instruction and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to the many and varied situations in the school environment
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with General Education and Special Education teachers in support of students' instructional needs; teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement; establish and maintain procedures to ensure order among students.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Provide differentiated instruction in support of students' goals and objectives in one or more subject areas such as English, mathematics, or science.
- Use technology and other equipment and materials to supplement instruction as necessary.
- Support administration of standardized tests as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional and responsible
- Participate in approved professional development to improve skills related to job assignment
- Follow NYOS standard procedures for communication, interaction, and discipline as outlined in the NYOS Staff Handbook
Work Environment: This job operates in a school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands: This position is very active and involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Compensation and Benefits:
The starting Educational Assistant salary for 0 years of experience is $26,066 per year or $17.15 per hour. This role may be eligible for stipends based on assignments which may vary between $500-$1,000. For more information about our compensation, visit our compensation and benefits page.
